INVITATION TO VIEW
We’re now nationwide
This brochure is momentous. In 2014 Invitation to View has become national so privately-owned properties now open their doors to visitors all over England and North Wales.
This is our 16th anniversary: we started in Suffolk in 1998 with a mere 14 houses. We then spread throughout East Anglia and, in 2012, we took in the West Country. This brochure consists of 88 places you can visit by appointment from the tip of Cornwall to Merseyside. Next year we hope to fill in the gaps and, in future, take in Scotland as well.
Invitation to View is a co-operative run with no public funding and is unique in that people can buy tickets (rather like for the theatre) to visit a place of their choice by appointment on the dates in our calendar. People do not need to be part of a group but come as individuals. Many properties do not open for anyone else and, frequently, the owner takes charge of the tour. Those properties which do open to the general public make sure that Invitation to View visitors get something extra. Our visitors really do get behind closed doors.
Visitors can see the properties by booking through the Mercury Theatre in Colchester (01206 573948) or on-line at www.mercurytheatre.co.uk. Groups wishing to book on a date not listed in the calendar should ring Pat Jacobs (01284 827087) or email email@example.com.
To book, you can either call the Mercury Theatre on 01206 573948
or book on-line at www.mercurytheatre.co.uk.
For further information, please call 01284 827087
Bookings can only be confirmed when full payment has been received. For security, we will need your name and address and a contact telephone number. Please give a mobile number if possible in case the tour is cancelled at the last minute (eg. due to illness).
Because these properties are old and fragile, unfortunately we cannot include children under 14.
If you have to cancel your visit, please give a minimum of five working daysí notice. You will be offered a credit to be used at a later date or you can exchange your tickets for another tour within the same calendar year. Occasionally tours may be cancelled if visitor numbers are too low, in which case a full refund will be given. Photography is only allowed with permission of the owners.
