Invitation to View started in Suffolk in 1998 with a mere 14 houses. It now extends across the country from the tip of Cornwall to Merseyside and continues to expand throughout England and Wales.
The scheme is a co-operative, run with no public funding, and is unique in that people can buy tickets (rather like for the theatre) to visit a property of their choice by appointment on the dates in our calendar. People do not need to be part of a group but come as individuals. Many places do not open for anyone else and, frequently, the owner takes charge of the tour. Those properties which do open to the general public make sure that Invitation to View visitors get something extra. Our visitors really do get behind closed doors.
Because many properties are family homes, the numbers they can accommodate are limited so we ask visitors to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Booking is simple via our website and tickets can be printed at home or downloaded onto a smartphone or tablet. Directions will be sent with your tickets. To book by phone, please ring the Mercury Theatre on 01206 573948.
Many of our properties are old and fragile, so unfortunately we cannot include children under 14. Photography is only allowed with permission from the owners – see individual property pages for restrictions.
