Barsham Old Hall



Built in 15th century, recently restored, owners have included Sir John Suckling (comptroller to James I) and his son John, the Cavalier poet. Cromwell stationed cavalry here. Recent find of major iron age workings near the C15 hall. After buffet lunch, tour continues at Barsham Church which has strong Nelson and Trollope connections and ends with a cup of tea. There is a large herb garden and a nursery with garden, herb and rare house plants for sale.
Tour approx 5 hours, £24 including coffee on arrival, buffet lunch followed by coffee, farewell cup of tea and biscuits (proceeds to church restorations).
