Pepys House

Sited near Hinchingbroke House, Pepys House dates from about 1600 and has an 18th century addition. Samuel Pepys inherited the house in 1661 on the death of his uncle, Robert, who was bailiff at the nearby Hinchingbroke Estate, the seat of Edward Montague, later first Earl of Sandwich. His frequent visits during the 1660s are recorded in his diary.
