Wolterton Hall



Built in 1720s by Thomas Ripley for politician Horatio Walpole, brother of Britain’s first prime minister, Sir Robert. Park enclosed and house altered early C19 and abandoned entirely between 1858 and 1905. Present Lord Walpole inherited 1989 and started programme of restoration of house and family archives. The rooms have kept many original 18th century features.
