Trereife House

Trereife House
Trereife House

Mostly early C18 house, simple and well-proportioned, by owner John Nicholls, who made major alterations to an earlier building, taking off the roof to raise the first floor. At the same time the staircase of an earlier 17th century design was installed. The fine examples of plasterwork to the ceilings are of the same date and period, as are the mouldings on the soft wood panelling in several rooms. Fireplaces include early C17 (brought from another house) and Queen Anne in the Breakfast Room.

Tour 2 hours, £15 including tea or coffee, cake and biscuits. Accommodation.

Location: near Penzance, Cornwall
