Since the couple purchased the farmhouse, unloved and with no electricity back in 2003, Brigitte has turned history and house detective.
She has become a highly informed researcher, restorer and educator whose passion for the place and the medieval, Tudor, Elizabethan and Stuart periods is undeniably infectious.
With furniture and artefacts at Parsonage Farm to illustrate almost every example, she captivates her house guests with all sorts of historical insights from embroidery to Bellarmine drinking vessels, table manners and board-games to fragrant Tudor knot gardens lined with lavender and hyssop.
“Our Richard III memorial garden is one of my most favourite projects,” shares Brigitte. “I started it on the date that he was reburied in 2015 and it includes red willow for the House of Lancaster and white wild roses for the House of York.”
As well as growing all their own fruit and vegetables to include in ‘Friday Pies’ and other Tudor recipes, the Websters have ensured that the gardens at Parsonage Farm provide all the herbs, boughs and flowers they need to ‘garnish’ the house Tudor-style for Christmas and other celebrations throughout the year.
With the pre-Easter tour a sell-out and other dates booking up fast, Parsonage Farm is set to be a highly popular addition to Invitation to View’s portfolio.
Tours are exclusive to the Invitation to View scheme and include lunch with Tudor cooking and food displays, Tudor refreshments* or a Tudor Christmas feast depending on the date.
